Jeweler’s Rouge
There are many types of polishing compounds available on the market, and jeweler’s rouge is one of them. It consists of excellent iron oxide mixed with a wax or grease-based binder. In some industries, jeweler’s rouge has been replaced with Cerium (IV) Oxide (CeO2) paste. However, cerium oxide powder can be hazardous if inhaled.
Alternatively, you can try clear nail polish to remove scratches. This is inexpensive and works as well. Another product that works as well as jeweler’s rouge. It’s a relatively inexpensive polish made from cerium oxide, also known as a jeweler’s rouge. Once the polish is applied to the glass, you can wipe it clean with a soft cloth to remove any excess. However, be sure not to use too much because it can damage the glass.

WD-40
If you’ve ever scratched your car, you may wonder if you can use WD-40 to repair it. This miracle product is a great way to fix minor scratches in your car. However, it won’t repair blemishes on the most severe parts of your car, but it will likely work on moderate to minor scratches. So, how does WD-40 repair scratches on auto glass? WD-40 can be applied to a scratched surface using a sponge or all-purpose microfiber terry cleaning towel.
While WD-40 is best used for immediate lubrication, it won’t last long. While it works for some, it isn’t ideal for the long-term lubrication of chains or hinges. It can also cause black stains on hinges. Using WD-40 on a chain may result in a jerk. While the product is anecdotal, it’s not recommended for long-term lubrication on chains.
Magic Eraser
The Magic Eraser can remove stubborn stains from glass, but you need to be careful. While it may not scratch the glass, it can leave subtle scratches. If you’re concerned about damaging your car, avoid using this product on glass. Always use it wet. In the event of a spill, rinse your hands immediately afterward. And never use it on glass that’s already been damaged.
The dry version of the Magic Eraser contains an abrasive material similar to 800 grit sandpaper. Never use a dry Magic Eraser to clean your car. This can cause major damage. Instead, use the wet version, as it’s safer and easier to work with. Afterward, polish the scratch with rubbing compound or polishing pads. If all else fails, you can always purchase a quality scratch remover.

You can also moisten a cloth with warm water and apply the paste to the scratched glass. After a few minutes, wash off the paste using an ammonia-free glass cleaner.
A rotary tool and 3M Cerium Oxide compound are two methods you can use to fix scratches in your auto glass. While you can try to repair scratches yourself, hiring a professional to perform the job may be more accessible. If the Rain-X kit doesn’t work, you can also try resin repair. Your comprehensive auto insurance may cover resin repairs if not covered by the equipment.
