Diabetes is a health condition that causes an individual’s blood sugar levels to rise above what is deemed a safe baseline. Someone can develop one of the four main kinds of diabetes for one of two reasons; either their body does not produce enough insulin or does not respond appropriately to insulin. Both of these causes result in blood glucose levels that are higher than a normal and safe amount.

One of the symptoms of diabetes is blurry vision, which can in turn result in further complications if not cared for properly. Diabetics are more prone to developing vision problems because of high blood glucose. When blood sugar is too high, there can be changes in the fluid levels surrounding the eyes, which can cause the tissue to swell, ultimately leading to blurred vision. Typically, blurred vision is a temporary symptom of diabetes until blood sugar levels are under control again, but sometimes there can be permanent damage if glucose levels are elevated over a long period of time.

Keep reading to learn the warning signs and steps to take for proper eye health when living with diabetes.

Diabetes

Know The Signs

It’s crucial to know the signs of diabetic vision problems so that your eyesight can be preserved. Some of the most common symptoms of diabetic eye diseases include:

  • Blurry vision
  • Consistent changes in vision quality
  • Difficulty seeing color
  • Light flashes
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Increased urination

If any of these symptoms occur, it’s necessary to contact your doctor right away. Aside from these general symptoms, there are more specific symptoms associated with different eye-health complications. Diabetes can increase the chance of developing the following vision diseases:

Diabetic Retinopathy- A diabetic eye disease caused by blood vessel damage to the retina. The early stages may not come with any noticeable symptoms, but over time dark spots in the vision, inconsistent vision, difficulty seeing color, and empty areas in your eyesight could occur in both eyes.

Glaucoma- An eye disease in which the optic nerve is damaged due to pressure in the eye. Diabetic adults have twice the chance of developing glaucoma as adults without diabetes. Symptoms of glaucoma include redness in the eye, nausea or vomiting, tunnel vision, and eye pain.

Cataracts- An eye disease that causes cloudiness in the lens of your eyes. Those living with diabetes are more prone to develop cataracts at a younger age than those living without diabetes. Symptoms of cataracts include spotty vision, yellowed vision, blurry vision, and being startled by bright light.

Visit The Eye Doctor Regularly

The first step to managing vision health for those with diabetes is to visit the eye doctor regularly for a diabetic eye exam. It’s important to schedule this specific exam versus a regular eye exam as they check for different things. A diabetic eye exam will typically include more extensive tests and pupil dilation in order to check for common diabetes-induced eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, or cataracts.

People with Type 1 Diabetes should get an eye exam within the first five years after being diagnosed, while those with Type 2 should visit the eye doctor as soon as they can. This difference in timeline is because those with T2D may have had diabetes long before they were diagnosed, which means they could have developed an eye disease without even knowing it. Meanwhile, those with T1D don’t need to visit the eye doctor right away because damage will take a while to occur. After the initial eye exam, though, it’s important to visit the eye doctor for a diabetic eye exam annually regardless of which kind of diabetes you are diagnosed with.

Women planning to become pregnant should visit the eye doctor before pregnancy or within the first trimester to monitor their vision health. Sometimes, women with diabetes are at a higher risk for vision complications during pregnancy due to changes in hormones. Consult with your doctor to stay on top of your vision health throughout your pregnancy to ensure proper eye care.

Manage Blood Sugar Levels

The most important step when it comes to preventing diabetic eye disease is to properly monitor and manage your blood sugar levels. As previously mentioned, blood sugar levels that are not properly managed can cause dangerous changes in the fluid surrounding the eyes that can lead to swelling in the eye tissue making it more likely to develop an eye disease. Follow your doctor’s diabetes plan to ensure you’re caring for yourself properly and managing diabetes effectively. Be sure to engage in a daily fitness routine that works for you and keep your diet on track to maintain blood sugar levels. If needed, join a support group with other diabetics so you can be there for one another through this journey. Living with diabetes can be tricky, but as long as you are actively managing your health and looking out for warning signs, you will drastically decrease your chances of developing a diabetes-related vision disease.

Your garage door is an important piece of your home, yet most people don’t think too much about their garage doors until something goes very wrong. If you’ve noticed something slightly different about your garage door’s functioning, it may be an indicator that you need maintenance or repair before something more expensive becomes an issue. Look out for these top signs that you need to look for Pflugerville garage door repair services.

1. Excessive Noise

You may think a few squeaks and creaks are nothing to worry about, but unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Not only is a noisy garage a nuisance, it’s often an indicator that repair is required. If you hear a rumbling sound, it might be an issue with one or more sets of springs. Popping sounds are a sign that the sections of the door need realignment. Every noise has a cause, and a garage repair service can fix the many issues that can result in the noises you’re hearing.

2. Coming Off the Tracks

A roller jumping the garage door track is a serious issue, even if it doesn’t happen every time you operate the door. Rollers coming off-track can be the result of a vehicle collision, broken lift cables or worn-out rollers.

3. Sagging or Unevenness

A garage door can still operate when it’s out of balance, but if the door appears to sag or can’t close symmetrically you need to call in a repair service. Unevenness is an indicator that springs are wearing unevenly and one will likely snap before the other. Getting it fixed can prevent your door from getting stuck.

4. Slow Operation

Although a slow-opening garage door often feels like nothing more than a minor nuisance, Austin’s Greater Garage Doors recommends having it checked out as soon as possible. It could be nothing more than a need to lubricate hinges or rollers, but it could also be as serious as an electrical problem that may lead to a damaged door.

5. Failure to Open or Close

When your garage door simply won’t open or shut, or doesn’t open and close all the way, you definitely need to call in the professionals. This type of malfunction usually has a culprit like stripped gears or broken cables, which aren’t something you can safely fix yourself.

When in doubt, call a reputable repair company to evaluate your garage door. Being proactive can save you time and money on garage door repair.

It is not an exaggeration to say that the way we feel about our hair can make or break our day or a special event. Sometimes, it seems to have a mind of its own, and for no good reason, it just won’t do what we need it to. While genetics have a big influence on the strength, volume, and type of hair we have, there is plenty we can do to gain some control and improve the condition of our hair. Here are five steps to a stronger and shinier head of hair, which should be easier to manage, quicker to grow, and more likely to attract compliments.

1. Cut back on the heat

Heat is one of the most common causes of hair damage as it weakens its structure leading to breakages, dry hair, and frizz. If you are often styling your hair with heated tools like a hairdryer, straighteners, or curling irons, you are damaging your hair. When you can, let your hair dry naturally rather than blow-drying it, but if you need to dry it quickly, use a cooler setting on the hairdryer, or hold it further away from the surface of the hair. You could also protect the hair with a spray or serum designed to prevent heat damage. It is also worth washing your hair with lukewarm or cool water as this will seal the hair cuticle helping it to retain moisture.

2. Up your vitamins and protein

When we do not get the vitamins and minerals we need, our mental and physical health can suffer, and this includes our hair. For optimal hair growth, you should be getting vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, as well as iron, zinc, and plenty of protein. This means that your diet should be varied and nutritious, with vegetables, pulses, nuts, fruits, meat, dairy, fish, seeds, and eggs. It is not always possible to get all the right vitamins and nutrients from your diet, so you might want to consider taking Noor vitamins and supplements.

less hair wash

3. Wash your hairless

Washing hair too often can rob it of natural oils, dry it out, weaken it, and increase the likelihood of breakages. With the exception of people who have particularly oily hair, most people can get away with washing their hair 2-3 times per week. When you do wash your hair, you do not need to use much shampoo as this can also lead to weakened hair. In fact, experts recommend using two teaspoons of shampoo, which should be applied to the scalp rather than all the hair.

4. Give your scalp a massage

Massaging the scalp promotes circulation of blood, and therefore nutrients, to the hair follicles. This can improve the condition of new hair leading to thicker and stronger hair over time. Simply massage your scalp with your fingertips for a few minutes before you apply your shampoo. Alternatively, you could invest in a scalp massager.

5. Apply an egg yolk mask

To supercharge your hair with protein and strengthen the hair follicles, you can apply an egg yolk mask as egg yolk contains peptides, vitamins A and D, folate, and biotin, which can stimulate hair growth. Mix approximately three egg yolks with warm coconut oil creates a thick mask that can be applied to the hair, place a shower cap on the head for 10-15 minutes, and rinse with cool water.

Like with a car, you need to maintain your boat. There are a few boat management tasks that people can perform at home, but the rest is typically done in a shop. Follow these tips to make sure that you keep your boat properly maintained.

Create a Checklist

Today you need to maintain your engine, hull, topsides, electrical system, plumbing, HVAC system, canvas, upholstery, and other moving parts. Fortunately, this checklist is much shorter, thanks to modern marine hardware. Despite fewer parts that need to be maintained, you should still write out a checklist with all the parts you need to update periodically.

Do Simple Things Yourself

The most simple maintenance task is to keep your boat clean. This has a definite impact on how long your boat will last. For instance, if you don’t wash your boat regularly, the fiberglass coating will start to get chalky. Therefore, the first chore on your list is regular washing and waxing. You’re also going to want to regularly clean the upholstery and canvas to prevent mold from growing and deteriorating the materials. While you’re washing, don’t forget to clean the bilge.

If you spend a day out on freshwater, washing is the only chore you will have. However, you are going to want to flush your engine after a day on saltwater. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when doing this. Lastly, after each trip, you are going to want to inspect your boat’s systems. If you notice anything wrong, be sure to take it to the shop.

Bring It to the Shop for Maintenance

Most annual chores are left to the professionals. Similarly, when you bring your boat in, you can also have your trailer worked on. Be sure to choose a mechanic who will perform all the items on your checklist.

Prepare for the Cost

Some people choose to work on boats themselves because of the cost of maintenance. Thankfully, modern vessels don’t require many part swaps so that you will save on labor. If you choose to take the boat to a shop, you will often pay up to 10 percent of the boat’s original cost. In the first few years, it’s going to be a lot cheaper than this. However, depending on how often and hard you drive your boat will impact the maintenance costs.

Boat maintenance is important to keep your boat running in tip-top shape, just like a car. Whether you choose to do your maintenance at home or bring it to a shop, you should follow these tips to ensure your boat is around for the long haul.

Tax time
is coming.  Some people have been preparing for this moment all year.  They have color-coded folders for paper documents, scanned receipts, and organized folders on their computer for digital documents.  Everything is all set and all that is left are the W-2s and other final tax documents that will be arriving after the end of the year.

Others know that they should be better organized and make a promise to themselves that they will do better next year.  Now, it is time to scramble, but never fear, it can be done.  Better late than never.  Here are some ideas to get your tax items in order for the year.

Grab Last Year’s Return

This is a great place to start when getting organized because it will alert you to all of the documents and information that you need to find.  Plus, if your return includes inventory information or depreciation, you will need the numbers for last year anyway.

Create Organized Areas For Grouping Documents

Everyone’s tax return has a different level of complexity.  Those who file using standard deductions without itemizing and no dependents will have the easiest time.  It will just be a matter of collecting W-2’s, bank, and investment documents, and anything else applicable to your situation.  If your taxes are more complicated and you will be itemizing, your level of organization will need to be more in-depth.

Consider using file folders, boxes, labeled stacks with paperclips, or bins to categorize and organize your documents.  Think of each type of document you will need to be collecting.  If you have several businesses, be sure to keep each piece of information separately for each business as well.

Make Lists

Once you have an organized place for all of the information, it’s time to start collecting it.  Make lists for each category of documents and once you have it filed in the correct place, check it off.  Sometimes it will be a matter of finding the information already in your house, while in other instances, it will mean waiting for it to arrive in the mail.  No matter the case, once it’s in the correct place, check it off.   This will give you some direction when it’s time to go hunting for items as the clock is clicking down on the deadline.

Once you have all of your information in order, it will be a simple task to file your taxes.  Whether you work with a tax professional such as https://denvertaxadvisor.com/ or do your taxes yourself, having everything organized will make the process simpler and hopefully mean that you get your return faster.  If you are scrambling at the end of the year trying to get everything together, consider putting a better system in place for next year.  If you keep all of your items organized as they come in, your life will be much less stressful at tax time.

There is a reason decluttering, and deep cleaning feels good. Whether it is the process, the outcome, or the whole journey, there is something that fascinates and inspires many of us, even to the point where we now have cleaning ‘influencers.’

Though it is perfectly understandable if you are one of the types to slog your way through just to get the end results, there is some evidence to suggest that the journey is just as much of an important part of the process as is the outcome.

With that in mind, let us look at some of the psychology behind decluttering and deep cleaning.

Eliminate Stress

Cleaning can be an excellent stress eliminator due to its complementary combination of physical exercise, concentration, focus, and the outcome of the process. Not only can clutter cause anxiety and create a stressful environment and atmosphere just by being among it, but it can also make daily life difficult too. An example of this might be having to search through a bunch of things to look for something you had only moments ago, tripping up over stuff left on the floor, or anything that generally contributes to having a rougher time when it comes to daily tasks that need to be done.

The good news is, this is a part of life that you can control, and decluttering and deep cleaning will give you a much more balanced environment that you are able to enhance as you see fit.

Improve Your Health

Different types of bacteria, allergens, and germs can all wreak havoc on our bodies and physically affect us in different ways. There is an intrinsic link between our body and our minds, so when our bodies become irritated or inflamed, this can also have a direct impact on us psychologically. A study has shown that those who have cleaner houses have healthier bodies, and this is not just the case when it comes to home life either.

There are plenty of common allergies that can be found in the office, which can not only affect employees’ work performance but can also increase their sick days. Ensure the workplace is a healthy environment to be in, and visit best-clean-direct.co.uk to find a reputable cleaning service in your area to get offices and workspaces cleaned to a professional standard.

Being Organised Makes Us Feel Productive

Clutter and grime are not all that bad when we think about some of the benefits we can get through sorting it out. Throwing things away we don’t need and organizing our belongings can help us feel productive, which in turn is a great motivator. The outcome of decluttering often elicits feelings of calm and serenity, offering a good dose of rewarding neurotransmitters such as dopamine, which tells us “a job well done”. Even if this feeling just starts at decluttering and cleaning, it does not mean it ends there, as accomplishing small things one step at a time can often embolden us to take on bigger challenges and seek more emotional rewards!

The decision to undergo wrinkle injections requires forethought and planning. While it does not require incisions, you do need to understand the difference between the types of filler and the brand names. This helps you understand what your aesthetician or nurse at Lumen and Bevel Aesthetics refers to when consulting with you to create the custom plan to provide the best wrinkle-reduction results for you.

Using both volumizers and wrinkle fillers provides a better outcome. Injectable wrinkle fillers provide results similar to that of a facelift that lasts between four to twelve months. Using both types of treatment lets your aesthetician fill wrinkles, lines, and cheek hollows while volumizing agents can plump cheeks, the temple area, jawline, thin lips, and your chin. Applied correctly and in the right combination dermal fillers can restore to look of younger skin for you.

Wrinkle fillers only require about 30-minutes of time, but you do need to know your allergy risks. If you have an allergy to any substance, tell your aesthetician. This lets them plan for the proper injections since multiple options exist for each type of treatment and facial area.

Types of Wrinkle Fillers

Broadly, three types of fillers exist – hyaluronic acid fillers, collagen fillers, and synthetic fillers. The former lasts a few months to a year. Repeated treatments can induce the body to produce collagen. Repeated use can also cause you to require less filler over time. Among the hyaluronic acid wrinkle fillers available, you could use Belotero Balance, any of the seven versions of Juvederm, Prevelle Silk, any of the six versions of Restylane.

Synthetic fillers get crafted in a lab and do not use substances naturally found in the skin. These provide long-lasting effects, but a higher number of potential side effects. One filler offers a semi-permanent or multi-year result. These types of fillers include Bellafill, Radiesse, Sculptra, and Silicone.

Collagen fillers mock the skin’s own wrinkle plumping substance. These get formulated from animal collagen. They only last about a month but offer a natural-looking result. Cows provide the main source of natural collagen while synthetic versions exist, too. These fillers include Cosmoderm, Evolence, Fibrel, Zyplast, and Zyderm.

One semi-surgical option exists. A surgeon removes fat from your thighs, stomach, or buttocks. After treating it, they inject it into your face. This requires two surgical procedures. It provides semi-permanent results though. Also, medical platelet-rich plasma injections use your own blood as a filler and last between 12 to 18 months.

Determine Which Filler is Best for You

It helps that you know the differences between the different types of filler treatments by doing research ahead of time. You should also consult with your aesthetician, nurse, or doctor before deciding on an option. They can review your medical history with you and discuss your goals for the wrinkle treatments. The various injections vary vastly in the length of time they last, potential side effects, and efficacy.

Choosing the best wrinkle treatment for yourself provides the most effective way to meet the challenges of aging gracefully. Rather than choose by price, consult in-depth with the individual performing the injections. Choosing a treatment that lasts longer can cost you less over the long-term than frequent injections of collagen or Botox. You can make any result last longer by using sunscreen daily.

If you don’t want to embrace the fleeting trends that many people will follow, you must adopt a unique style each season. Take the time to create distinctive outfits that will grab others’ attention and prove you have an eye for fashion.

Incorporating custom and rare pieces into your closet will not only help you to establish yourself as a forward-thinking fashionista, but it could boost your self-confidence each day. For inspiration on how to do so, here are five ways to personalize your style.

1. Describe Your Style

Your first job is to describe your desired style. For example, are you fun, colorful, and bold or polished, timeless, and elegant? Once you have described your desired look, you must sift through your closet to identify the clothing and accessories that reflect your description and then donate items that don’t match your personality.

2. Browse Vintage Stores

Don’t pay a substantial sum for clothing at a popular retailer. Browse vintage stores to update your clothing and accessories. A little digging could help you to find a stunning top or jacket that complements your style, and it’s likely to be much cheaper than items you could buy from a modern store. You also can guarantee that you won’t spot anyone else wearing your clothing when walking down a street.

3. Tailor Your Clothing

Every clothing item in your closet should fit you like a glove. Many budding fashionistas underestimate the importance of custom-made pieces, which is why you must find a good tailor. They will ensure your jeans, blazers, dresses, and coats fit your exact shape, and you can even personalize your clothing with different buttons, zips, and other features. For example, you could transform a vintage blazer into a modern, unique item for just a few dollars, and it could help you to create a distinctive style.

4. Tweak Your Footwear

Rather than throwing footwear away because it doesn’t match your clothing, look for ways to upcycle your shoes. For example, you could upgrade an old pair of sneakers or leather shoes with leather paint, and there are more than 60 colors to choose from. The affordable paint can transform shoes sitting in your closet, and you can use it on other leather goods, such as handbags, belts, and jackets.

5. Pick a Signature Color

If you look at many fashion icons’ outfits, you’ll likely notice they consistentlywear the same color. For example, Coco Chanel was partial to black, Beyoncé tends to wear gold or pink, and Kim Kardashian leans towards nude hues.

Stand out from the crowd by wearing colors that reflect your taste and personality. You also could wear a shade that ensures you both look and feel confident. For example, you might feel strong and powerful when wearing red, and you could always incorporateit by applying a signature lipstick color.

Don’t follow trends that will fall out of style next season. Look for ways to personalize your wardrobe, from tailoring your clothing to wearing a signature color.

Your wedding should be the happiest day of your life surrounded by friends and family. While the day itself will be filled with happy memories, the planning of the wedding can certainly be stressful and testing. There are lots of different areas that need attention and it can be a lot of money to spend, so it is natural that couples often feel stressed, anxious and worried during the wedding planning process (being anxious about the big day itself is natural, too). Fortunately, there are a few great tips for reducing wedding planning stress that can make a big difference:

1. Prioritize your tasks

Wedding planning is often stressful because there are so many areas both big and small that need attention. This is why it is a good idea to break everything down and to prioritize your tasks, which will allow you to make a schedule. Sticking to this schedule will make planning much smoother and less stressful while ensuring that everything gets done.

2. Rely on your wedding party

It is a good idea to get your wedding party sorted as early as possible, and they can be of great help during the planning stage. When you have your bridesmaids and groomsmen confirmed, you could then give them some responsibilities to lighten your load as well as help them to feel valued – this is what they are there for, after all! Additionally, the wedding party can be a great source of strength and support when you are feeling stressed or anxious.

3. Choose a Venue That Includes Accommodation and Food

When it comes to a wedding, the key areas that need the most attention are the wedding venue, guest accommodation and food. This is why you should opt for somewhere that can handle all of this for you, alleviating a great deal of stress and allowing you to focus on the smaller details. The Adelaide Hills wedding venue is a beautiful venue that can provide on-site accommodation, 5-star catering and a wedding coordination team that can help to deliver the wedding of your dreams.

4. Communicate with your partner

Planning a wedding can actually put strain on a relationship, especially if one party is taking on more work than the other. This is why communication is so important during so that you can support one another, avoid arguments and stay on the same page at all times – you don’t want to start married life while still arguing over the catering!

5. Make time for self-care

Planning a wedding takes up a lot of time, which is tricky when you have work and other responsibilities. It is essential that you still make time for self-care, though, so that you can look after your physical and mental health and look forward to the wedding. Finding time for relaxing, socializing and exercising is key, so make these a priority while planning. Hopefully, this post will help to reduce wedding planning stress while helping you organize the best day of your life, one filled with special memories.

The holiday season is a wonderful time of year when friends and families get together and have a great time. From putting up the Christmas tree to decorating festive cookies and wrapping gifts, there are plenty of things you can do to make you feel all warm and fuzzy during the festive season. Here are some great examples of things you should do to help you get into the spirit of Christmas.

1.   Ice-Skating

A classic winter past-time, ice-skating can be a lot of fun (as well as a challenge!) Even if you’re not the most graceful skater on the ice, it’s a great way to put yourself into the festive spirit and enjoy some time with your friends and family. Just be careful not to fall face-first onto the ice or knock over any other skaters on the rink! Perhaps practice around the edge of the rink for a few laps before you glide off into the crowds.

2.   Christmas Markets

Christmas markets originate from Germany, and they have captured the hearts of those who love this time of year all over the world. They have become so popular, in fact, that you can find a Christmas Market in most towns and cities in countries that celebrate Christmas, and they certainly help to get you in the mood for the holidays. Enjoy some delicious food and mulled wine or eggnog as you wander through the stalls, and perhaps even pick up a gift or two while you’re there.

3.   Donate to Charity

While it’s a time to indulge and enjoy yourself, the holidays are also a time of giving. To give back this year and help others have a better Christmas, donate to a charity of your choosing or think of ways you can raise money to help. The American Red Cross also runs a holiday giving program, where you can donate money in someone’s name as an alternative gift. Perhaps think about doing this with your friends or family this year as a way you can all support others around the world.

4.   Watch Festive Movies

With the weather much colder and the dark skies, you might be tempted to snuggle down on the couch and hibernate. If this sounds like heaven to you, why not enjoy some of your favoritefestive movies while you warm yourself with hot cocoa as the snow falls outside? Whether you do this solo or with a company, it’s a perfect way to relax over the holiday season.

5.   Read Christmas Stories

If you want to enjoy some time away from your TV, tablet, or computer, pick up a good book instead. Reading is a great past-time, and there are plenty of Christmas or wintry tales that you can get lost in over the festive period, too. If you have kids, reading them some kid-friendly tales before bed is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit together. Make your holiday season magical by making sure you tick all of these fun, festive activities off your list!
