Shinier Hair

5 Steps to Stronger and Shinier Hair

It is not an exaggeration to say that the way we feel about our hair can make or break our day or a special event. Sometimes, it seems to have a mind of its own, and for no good reason, it just won’t do what we need it to. While genetics have a big influence on the strength, volume, and type of hair we have, there is plenty we can do to gain some control and improve the condition of our hair. Here are five steps to a stronger and shinier head of hair, which should be easier to manage, quicker to grow, and more likely to attract compliments.

1. Cut back on the heat

Heat is one of the most common causes of hair damage as it weakens its structure leading to breakages, dry hair, and frizz. If you are often styling your hair with heated tools like a hairdryer, straighteners, or curling irons, you are damaging your hair. When you can, let your hair dry naturally rather than blow-drying it, but if you need to dry it quickly, use a cooler setting on the hairdryer, or hold it further away from the surface of the hair. You could also protect the hair with a spray or serum designed to prevent heat damage. It is also worth washing your hair with lukewarm or cool water as this will seal the hair cuticle helping it to retain moisture.

2. Up your vitamins and protein

When we do not get the vitamins and minerals we need, our mental and physical health can suffer, and this includes our hair. For optimal hair growth, you should be getting vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, as well as iron, zinc, and plenty of protein. This means that your diet should be varied and nutritious, with vegetables, pulses, nuts, fruits, meat, dairy, fish, seeds, and eggs. It is not always possible to get all the right vitamins and nutrients from your diet, so you might want to consider taking Noor vitamins and supplements.

3. Wash your hairless

Washing hair too often can rob it of natural oils, dry it out, weaken it, and increase the likelihood of breakages. With the exception of people who have particularly oily hair, most people can get away with washing their hair 2-3 times per week. When you do wash your hair, you do not need to use much shampoo as this can also lead to weakened hair. In fact, experts recommend using two teaspoons of shampoo, which should be applied to the scalp rather than all the hair.

4. Give your scalp a massage

Massaging the scalp promotes circulation of blood, and therefore nutrients, to the hair follicles. This can improve the condition of new hair leading to thicker and stronger hair over time. Simply massage your scalp with your fingertips for a few minutes before you apply your shampoo. Alternatively, you could invest in a scalp massager.

5. Apply an egg yolk mask

To supercharge your hair with protein and strengthen the hair follicles, you can apply an egg yolk mask as egg yolk contains peptides, vitamins A and D, folate, and biotin, which can stimulate hair growth. Mix approximately three egg yolks with warm coconut oil creates a thick mask that can be applied to the hair, place a shower cap on the head for 10-15 minutes, and rinse with cool water.
