Cheap Tickets- And An Expensive Seat !
Being a performer off and on throughout my adult life has given me a great deal of empathy with others who are also drawn to this path. Most people are unaware of the amount of time, effort, education and experience which the art of performance demands. For the most part, most simply go to a show with the expectation of being entertained by what is presented, taking for granted not only the performers themselves but also the technical and creative crews that produce the environment within which the show unfolds.
A show is comprised of several aspects and, like a wedding, can surprise us with unforeseen details. One open-air concert at which I was performing while eight months pregnant, was plagued with feedback issues due to the mountain ranges surrounding the show’s valley venue. During my final song, which was being recorded, I caught sight of our sound man on his knees in prayer position, imploring the Powers That Be to get us all through the song without “screech-and-howl” incident. It worked.
As much as I enjoy performing, though, I also love to be entertained and understanding what goes into the making of a show greatly adds to my appreciation. It would be brilliant to get a set of lollapalooza tickets, a celebration of youth, inspired the nickname of the puppy I adopted last summer. I love it when the stars of my own youth find new and exciting ways to support and present new talent, such as Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s show, the Ozzfest tickets are going to be a sell out. Getting my hands on a set of Pageant of Masters tickets, will be difficult , and it leaves me in awe again of all the great artists throughout history. What a concept!
From costumes, set designs and themes, to the performances themselves, the realm of The Show offers us a true feast – all we need to do is to partake. Enjoy!
