Where Do All Those Crowd Control Products Come From?

December 12th, 2009

Have you ever been standing in line at the bank and wondered where they buy those velvet ropes and stanchions from? Probably not, unless you’re as bored as I was the other day. I was just idling standing there when the thought popped into my head and wouldn’t go away.

I didn’t even know what to ask when I googled. After a few stabs in the dark, I entered the words “velvet rope” and got all the information I needed and more. There’s a website called Camelback Displays that sells all that stuff.

Camelback sells anything and everything that has to do with Trade show displays. Crowd control has a scary ring to it, but really it covers everything from those velvet ropes to barricades. As far as I know, this online shop doesn’t sell riot gear, just everything you will ever need to keep traffic moving in the right direction in an orderly manner. The polite term for this kind of crowd control is “Public Guidance.” I learned that when I was browsing the site. For what it’s worth, now you know it, too.

I spent an inordinate amount of time on the Camelback site. They’ve obviously got everything. I’ll probably never need to buy barricades or velvet ropes, but it was pretty cool to find out all about where these things come from, even those little signs that say, “entrance” and “exit.”
